WELCOME!

We are glad that you decided to explore our website. Our church's mission is to provide a home to those who seek to love the Lord and the neighbor. We strive to enlighten and educate people to love living a life of use in accordance with the Word which brings a life of happiness. We cordially and enthusiastically invite you to join us in this mission!

Our Beliefs

We worship the one God, the Lord, the Savior Jesus Christ, in whom is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; whose Humanity is Divine; who, for our salvation, did come into the world and took our nature upon Him. He endured temptation, even to the passion of the cross, He overcame the hells, and so delivered humankind. He glorified His Humanity, uniting it with the Divinity of which it was begotten. So He became the Redeemer of the world. Without Him no mortal could have been saved, and they are saved who believe in Him and keep the commandments of His Word. This is His commandment: that we love one another as He has loved us.

Our Mission

As pastor, my vision for the Washington New Church is that we fulfill the uses of a church society found in the Word. This means being a community that serves the needs--of its members and also of its neighbors--for meaning (wisdom), connection (love), and purpose (use). Click here for more details.

Our Story

At the heart of our community are the spiritual goals that give it purpose. "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven." (Matthew 5:16) To see how old our congregation is and how it has grown click here.

Washington New Church is part of the worldwide New Church

The New Church, a new Christianity, teaches that there is one God, whom we know as the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God created the universe and everything in it because He is love itself, and that religion is to be lived as well as believed. The New Church is based on the teachings of the Bible as illuminated by Emanuel Swedenborg, an eighteenth century theologian and scientist. Swedenborg provided an explanation of the Bible's internal meaning, as well as writing many additional volumes which shed light on why we're here and how to develop a functional and personal relationship with God. The teachings of the New Church are immediately practical and deeply spiritual, and provide answers that make sense to many questions about God, love and life after death.

We offer worship services every Sunday, as well as classes, programs, and community activities. See the sections on Worship and Connect for more information.
